Shelter staff has attended “Dogs Playing for Life” and are conducting playgroups with the tools and knowledge they gained at the class. Playgroups help socialize the dogs, making them more adoptable.
Animal Control and shelter staff has been attending Continuing Education classes, such as Cruelty Investigation and Compassion Fatigue.
The Currituck County Sheriff’s Department has assisted Animal Control with a few cruelty investigations.
The volunteers have been coming back in since the shelter has opened back up after COVID and staff is grateful for the support.
The free rabies clinic on October 1, 2022, provided rabies vaccines to ~435 pets. Thanks to Dr. Tracy and his staff from Moyock Animal Hospital for a job well done.
Shelter staff traveled to Delaware in December for the Mega Adoption Event and were able to place 9 dogs and 18 cats in homes. They have also been having great success with PetSmart and rescue partners getting animals adopted or into rescue.
